Patrik Elgström: Gihon River [signed]

Gihon River in Vermont and Henry David Thoreau's book Walden form the basis for Elgström's exploration of a limited piece of land. In the work GIHON RIVER, Patrik Elgström moves away from the urban space and instead turns to nature. The encounter with nature's lack of intention in relation to the city's planned and articulated rooms was an experience that shaped the work. The body consists of a series of photographs that look down into the Gihon River. These photographs were taken during a residency in New England USA, specifically the small community of Johnsson in Vermont. The interest in seeing the landscape that Henry David Thoreau once saw and his book ”Walden” brought Elgström there in the fall of 2017.
